Full-Time 12-Month Contract (Parental Leave Cover)
Are you a detail-oriented accountant who enjoys working with numbers that truly matter?
We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team in Leichhardt for a 12-month parental leave contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to build your accounting capability in a purpose-driven early education organisation where your work directly supports services for children and families across Sydney.

About the Role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will play an important role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting revenue processes and contributing to strong financial governance.
Some of your tasks will include:
Revenue Accounting
- Daily reconciliation and uploading of revenue streams (family payments, government grants and other income)
- Preparation and analysis of revenue reports
- Supporting billing processes, including invoice generation and follow-up of outstanding payments
- Processing monthly government grant drawdowns
Management Accounting Support
- Assisting with monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary
- Supporting budget and forecast preparation
- Analysing financial data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Maintaining accurate and timely financial records
- Assisting with year-end reporting and audit requirements
- Processing monthly accruals in line with reporting timelines
- Monitoring expenses against budgets
- Supporting internal controls and compliance with financial regulations
You will also work collaboratively across departments to gather information and provide financial insights that support informed decision-making.
About You
You are analytical, organised and proactive, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
You will bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience in accounting or finance roles (education sector experience desirable)
- Experience using TechnologyOne (or similar accounting systems)
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience using XAP Technologies (or similar client management systems) is highly regarded
- Excellent time management and communication skills
- A collaborative approach and willingness to contribute to continuous improvement
